This film follows Nawal during her quest exploring the ancient feminine Sufi musical traditions of the Indian Ocean. During the journey she shares thought-provoking reflections on society and culture on her native islands.

Filmed in both Comoros and Zanzibar, this road movie offers an intimate portrait of this French-Comoran artist through the stages of her latest musical creation with women from Mayotte and Mohéli, “Les Femmes de la Lune.”

“Femmes de la Lune” means “Women of the Moon.” The name was inspired by the Arabic name for Comoros, which translates to Islands of the Moon
